Training Pod is the vision of Wayne Rudd, a dedicated fitness professional with over three decades of experience in the industry.
Founded in 2017, Training Pod has grown into one of Whitehaven’s best 24/7 gyms surrounded by a strong, locally owned fitness community. We now have trusted trainers lead a wide range of HYROX, spin and general fitness classes.
Today, our gym in Whitehaven continues to evolve, offering members access to expert coaching, functional training zones and exciting new features, including tanning stations and upgraded bodyweight training equipment.

About Wayne Rudd
With over 30 years in the fitness industry, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people of all ages reach their goals and discover their potential. My experience spans personal training, group coaching and gym management, giving me a strong understanding of how to build positive, results-driven training environments.
I hold a Diploma in Personal Training with Level 3 Nutrition, GP Referral, Outdoor Training, Studio Cycling and Circuit Training Instructor qualifications, as well as BAWLA certification and extensive strength and functional training experience. My management background has also helped me lead and develop successful fitness facilities.
At Training Pod, I focus on creating a supportive, motivating atmosphere where members feel confident and inspired. Whether your goal is weight loss, strength, HYROX prep or general fitness, I’ll help you train smart, stay consistent and enjoy the journey.
About Georgia De Groot
Georgia brings passion, energy and drive to every class she leads. With a background in strongwoman competition, weightlifting and powerlifting, she knows what it takes to build both physical and mental strength.
Currently working towards her Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification and Studio Cycling certificate, Georgia combines hands-on experience with a deep enthusiasm for helping others achieve their best. Her classes are dynamic, challenging and packed with motivation — designed to push limits while keeping fitness fun and empowering.
About Rachel Riley
Rachel brings a unique mix of athletic experience and professional discipline to her training sessions. With over 3 years of hands-on experience as an avid gym-goer, she’s developed a strong foundation in endurance training and functional fitness, driven by her passion for performance and progression.
Currently working towards her Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification, Rachel combines her love for fitness with a background in quality management, planning, and stakeholder engagement — giving her a structured, motivational approach to coaching. Her sessions are upbeat, challenging and supportive, helping members grow both physically and mentally while having fun along the way.
About Jae Mattinson
Jae brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to every class, combining movement, flexibility and mindfulness to help members feel stronger. With a course in Sports Fitness and Nutrition, Jae has built a well-rounded foundation in both physical training and wellness.
Her background includes experience in outdoor activities, HIIT, circuits and gymnastics, along with over 4 years of yoga and Pilates — including pre- and post-baby yoga — and 5 years of adult ballet. Jae has also participated in a wide range of fitness disciplines such as step, metabolic conditioning, kettlebell training, boogie bounce, boxing circuits, and bootcamps, where she’s assisted instructors and supported members with technique and motivation.
Her classes focus on improving flexibility, posture, and recovery, while encouraging both physical and mental well-being.

The History of Training Pod
15+ years ago
Started in leisure and fitness.
After redundancy
Worked for various companies across the Midlands.
Something felt 'wrong'
Worked at St Bees Private School, but it was never enough as something felt ‘wrong’.
Opened up our first unit
Opened up our first gym unit; started with a few spin machines and small one-to-one personal training sessions.
Moving forward
We bought more equipment, expanded and reinvested all of our money back into the gym.
Training Pod is here
Training Pod is now a community-focused gym where we offer a number of memberships, fitness classes and one-to-one personal training.
